If you follow me on anything, you probably know that I’m really, really into vision boards. It’s not because I’m a crafty person and don’t have anything better to do with my time. No, it’s because vision boards work!
A vision board is a visual representation of your goals, dreams, and/or things you want to be, do and have. It’s a collage of things you want in life, experiences you desire, and people, situations, and feelings you want to manifest.
That’s it. Simple, right? Well, there is some science behind it.
We all know that writing down our goals helps us achieve them. In fact, one study shows that you are 42% more likely to achieve your goals if you write them down!
Vision boards work because they engage The Law of Attraction which says the more you focus on the things you want, the more time you spend paying attention to your purpose, the more you draw your desired items and experiences into your life.
A vision board reinforces the written goal with a visual representation of the goal. This helps to implant the goals in your brain and increases your focus on the goal.
Why do you need a vision board?
Well, maybe you don’t, but if you’ve had limited or no success with achieving your goals, especially the big, hairy, audacious, scary ones, then maybe you should give a vision board a try.
Brian Tracy says, “An average person with average talent, ambition and education, can outstrip the most brilliant genius in our society, if that person has clear, focused goals.”
A vision board:
- Helps you gain clarity about your most important goals and dreams
- Helps keep your goals constantly in sight and in your mind
- Surrounds you with the energy of what you desire most
- Keeps your emotional energy high and your focus strong
Many successful business people and celebrities use vision boards to help them achieve their dreams and goals. Olympic athletes use the power of visualization to help them achieve their goals.
Personally, my vision board has helped me leave my full-time job to become a successful business consultant and coach, overcome negative self-talk and imposter syndrome, create my home office, and more. People I’ve led through my vision board workshops have achieved dreams of starting new businesses, taking the vacation of their dreams, expanding their careers and business, even having a baby!
I like vision boards because they work. I think everyone who has a dream should have one.
